CHARACTER INFO
❥ Name: Nico di Angelo
❥ Canon: Heroes of Olympus
❥ Canon Point: End of Blood of Olympus
❥ History: >Wiki Link<
❥ Personality: Nico comes off as stand-offish and generally just … angry. He’s spent much of his childhood on his own, and believes most people are afraid or disgusted by him. His powers center around darkness and death, so he’s not exactly wrong. Though he has gained a few friends by his canon point, he’s still learning how to trust others and open up.

Nico was once a geeky, excitable, and inquisitive child, despite believing he and his older sister, Bianca, had been orphaned and left on their own. He was obsessed with a myth-based card game, Mythomagic, of which he’d collected almost all the figures and memorized all the stats. When he learned he and Bianca were children of an actual god, he was overjoyed.

That all changed in short order. Bianca was his only family, but was also only twelve years old. Believing he would be safe and cared for at Camp Half-Blood – a camp and safe haven for demigods – and wanting to do something for herself, she joined the Hunters of Artemis. Though he felt abandoned by her, he begged Percy Jackson to protect her when she set off on her first quest. Unfortunately, she was killed. Hers was the first death he’d felt. When Percy returned with news of her fate, Nico revealed that he could feel her in the Underworld. Terrified and angry, Nico ran away from camp.

He became bitter and grim, choosing solitude over the safety of the camp. As a son of Hades, he feels unwanted and feared. Once, when Percy remarked that he should return to camp and make friends, he asked if that were really possible. Sadly, Percy didn’t have an answer for him. It’s not just his parentage and powers that made him feel like an outsider. He was born in the 1930s, but was placed in a magic casino, where he and Bianca remained for 70 years and didn’t age. He feels a disconnect with the modern world, especially where his sexuality is concerned. Having come from a place and time where being gay was a punishable offense, he struggled with the realization that he’d developed a crush on Percy. He kept this a closely guarded secret until he was forced into a confession during a confrontation with Cupid.

While looking for Doors of Death to aide in the war effort, he fell into Tartarus, where he was overwhelmed by monsters and taken captive. He was sealed inside an airtight jar and only survived by deliberately placing himself on the very brink of death to conserve air. He was eventually rescued, but the experience scarred him. He became even more withdrawn and melancholy. Always quick to anger, his moods are more volatile.

Though he was little more than skin and bones by the time he was rescued, he remains one of the more powerful demigods, described as both ruthless and dangerous, all the more because he seems to lack a sense of self-preservation. He is aware that overextending his powers can result in his losing consciousness and even dying, but continues to do so. Even weakened, he volunteered to transport the Athena Parthenos and two passengers halfway around the world. The effort, as well as using his power to kill a foe, put him in a coma for three days. He very nearly, literally, faded away. After waking, he still insisted on using his powers to move the giant statue to their destination, believing it was more important than what might happen to him.

His fatal flaw is holding grudges, which means he has a hard time letting things go. He rarely smiles (and complains that doing so hurts his face muscles), and does not like to be touched. The exception is his half-sister, Hazel, whom he dotes on.

❥ Abilities: Pull up a chair, friends.
* Inborn battle reflexes
* Skilled with a sword
* Geokinesis - Cracking the earth open, forming rock walls, tremors
* Necromancy -
>> Power Over the Undead - Reanimation, summoning, putting to sleep, banishing, destroying. He can raise armies to fight for him. However, summoning too many warriors at once is draining, or even life-threatening.
>> Summoning Deceased Souls
>> Sensitivity to Death - Can sense when someone dies or is about to die. He can sense the same for gods when they fade. He is able to tell when the deceased are being judged in the Underworld.
>> Ghost Transformation - Can kill a mortal/demigod/legacy by transforming them into a ghost.
* Osteokinesis - The power to summon and telekinetically control bones.
* Umbrakinesis -
>> Shadow Travel - In which he uses the shadows to move freely from one place to another. He can also conceal himself in shadow to make himself less visible. Overuse of this ability can lead to exhaustion, coma, or fading (his molecular structure collapses and he literally disappears).
* Hypnokinesis - He has the ability to travel through dreams, and project himself into the dreams of others. He is a VERY heavy sleeper.

>>And of course, anything that would involve other characters, such as with the dream walking, would only be done with permission.<<

❥ Extras: I’m okay with nerfing or toning down some of his powers if needed
